The solar system is a fascinating and complex system of celestial bodies. At its centre is the Sun, a star that provides the heat and light necessary for life on Earth. Surrounding the Sun are eight planets, which orbit it in elliptical paths. These planets are divided into two groups: the inner planets, which are small and rocky, and the outer planets, which are large and gaseous.
The four inner planets — Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars — are located closer to the Sun. Mercury is the smallest planet and has extreme temperatures, while Venus has a thick atmosphere that traps heat. Earth is the only planet known to support life, and Mars, with its red appearance, is a subject of great interest for scientists, who have sent missions to study its surface.
The outer planets — Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune — are much larger and farther from the Sun. Jupiter, the largest planet, has a famous storm known as the Great Red Spot. Saturn is known for its beautiful rings, while Uranus and Neptune are often called "ice giants" because of their cold atmospheres and icy compositions. Pluto, once considered the ninth planet, is now classified as a dwarf planet.
The solar system also contains moons, comets, and asteroids, which add to its complexity. Each of these celestial objects has its own unique characteristics, but all of them are part of the larger system that revolves around the Sun.
