Dịch nghĩa: giống như

Cấu trúc này dùng để chỉ ra hai người, sự vật, sự việc tương tự nhau. Ví dụ:

• The beach is like a paradise with its crystal-clear waters and soft white sand. (Bãi biển giống như một thiên đường với làn nước trong vắt và cát trắng mềm mại.)

• The sound of rain falling on the roof is like a lullaby, lulling me into a peaceful slumber. (Tiếng mưa rơi trên mái nhà tựa như một bài hát ru, ru tôi vào giấc ngủ yên bình.)

Dịch nghĩa: khác với

Cấu trúc này dùng để chỉ ra hai hay nhiều người, sự vật, sự việc khác nhau. Ví dụ:

• Playing team sports is different from playing individual sports. (Chơi các môn thể thao đồng đội khác với chơi các môn thể thao cá nhân.)

• Your taste of music is different from mine. (Sở thích âm nhạc của bạn khác với của tôi.)

Đây là cấu trúc câu so sánh ngang bằng với tính từ, dùng để so sánh hai người, sự vật, sự việc có cùng hoặc khác tính chất. Ví dụ: 

• Soccer is not as popular as basketball. (Bóng đá thì không phổ biến như bóng rổ.)

• My dad is as busy as my mom. (Bố tôi cũng bận như mẹ tôi.)

Lưu ý: 

Câu so sánh ngang bằng dạng phủ định có thể chuyển sang câu so sánh hơn. Ví dụ:

• Tennis is not as popular as football. -> Football is more popular than tennis.
