Tài liệu được trích từ sách “Reading Keywords for Cambridge IELTS 13”. Cuốn sách là tinh hoa chất xám của đội ngũ chuyên môn Anh ngữ ZIM. Tài liệu đã bao gồm tất cả các từ vựng quan trọng nhất trong phần bài đọc của cuốn luyện đề IELTS Cambridge 13. Cùng với từ vựng, sách còn có phần luyện tập tương ứng với đa dạng các dạng bài tập, giúp người học nhớ từ vựng lâu hơn và biết cách vận dụng các từ vừa học cho những kĩ năng khác trong bài thi IELTS.

1. inhabitant /ɪnˈhæbɪtᵊnt /(n): a person that lives in a place (cư dân)

• Ví dụ: New Zealand is a small country of four particular million inhabitants.

• Dịch: New Zealand là một quốc gia nhỏ với khoảng 4 triệu dân.

• Đồng nghĩa: dweller, settler, resident, occupant,...

2. long-haul /lɒŋ-hɔːl/(adj): travelling a long distance, especially by air (đường dài)

• Ví dụ: The visitors arrived after a long-haul flight.

• Dịch: Những vị khách đến sau một chuyến bay đường dài.

• Đồng nghĩa: long distance

3. campaign /kæmˈpeɪn/ (n): a series of thing such as television advertisements or posters that try to persuade people to do sth e.g. buy a new product (chiến dịch)

• Ví dụ: Tourism New Zealand launched a campaign to communicate a new brand position to the world.

• Dịch: Du lịch ở New Zealand đã phát động chiến dịch quảng bá vị thế thương hiệu mới với thế giới.

4. exhilarating /ɪɡˈzɪləreɪtɪŋ/ (adj): making you feel excited and full of energy (gây hứng khởi)

• Ví dụ: New Zealand’s scenic beauty, exhilarating outdoor activities, and authentic Maori culture.

• Dịch: Vẻ đẹp danh lam thắng cảnh của New Zealand, các hoạt động ngoài trời thú vị và văn hóa Maori đích thực.

5. on a regular basis /ɒn ə ˈrɛɡjələ ˈbeɪsɪs/ (adv): regularly (thường xuyên)

• Ví dụ: Participating businesses were able to update the details they gave on a regular basis.

• Dịch: Các doanh nghiệp tham gia có thể cập nhật thông tin chi tiết họ có một cách thường xuyên

6. evaluation /ɪˌvæljuˈeɪʃn/ (n): the process of judging importance, or value something’s quality (đánh giá)

• Ví dụ: The website underwent an independent evaluation.

• Dịch: Trang web đã trải qua một đợt đánh giá độc lập.

• Đồng nghĩa: assessment, appraisal, consideration,...

7. blockbuster /ˈblɒkbʌstə(r)/ (n): a book or film that is very successful (phim bom tấn)

• Ví dụ: Blockbuster films that had made use of New Zealand’s stunning scenery.

• Dịch: Những bộ phim bom tấn tận dụng phong cảnh tuyệt đẹp của New Zealand.

8. itinerary /aɪˈtɪnərəri/ (n): a detailed plan or route of a journey (hành trình)

• Ví dụ: Travellers devise their own customised itineraries.

• Dịch: Du khách tự lên hành trình tùy chỉnh của riêng họ.

9. indicate /ˈɪndɪkeɪt/ (v) show (chỉ ra)

• Ví dụ: According to the season and indicate distances and times.

10. inclusion /ɪnˈkluːʒn/ (n) the act of including someone or something as part of a group, list etc. (sự thêm vào)

• Ví dụ: Anyone could submit a blog of their New Zealand travels for possible inclusion on the website.
