As far as current traffic issues are concerned, it is proposed that residence in cities instead of in the urban vicinity or countryside could alleviate the situation. Although this can prove effective to a certain extent in some cases, it needs more consideration regarding the possible repercussions.

It is reasonable to argue that urban living could ease the stress on the traffic systems in places. One important reason is an increase in city dwellers would drive more investment in improving the transportation infrastructure in cities. Governmental bodies are encouraged to implement more plans to construct modern and convenient road amenities catering to the increasing traveling demand among the residents. Furthermore, the eco-traveling trend is becoming more and more prevalent in cities, thus encouraging its inhabitants to make journeys using more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles, like bikes and electric underground.

However, it is necessary to notice that fostering the popularity of living in metropolitans might be counter-productive in an attempt to mitigate traffic problems. In light of the fact that towns and cities are already highly populated, a surge in their population would be tantamount to a heavier burden on the traffic system. As a consequence, traffic congestion and other matters would occur without proper and strategic urban planning from the authorities. Furthermore, the proposal of megacity centralization could cause people to suffer from other drawbacks directly resulting from the increasingly restrained area and spaces. For instance, people might face the possibility of unemployment in the context of competitive job markets in metropolitan areas.

In conclusion, while there is evidence indicating the benefits that urbanization could bring to the problems related to transportation, further consideration implies that there are disadvantages underlying this incentive, preventing it from achieving desired outcomes.
