Task 2: In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry. Why is this the case? What can be done about this problem?
Nowadays, agriculture production has improved significantly compare to the past years, however, a large proportion of populations globally still experience starving. In my opinion, the major causes of this problem is due to low accessibility and poverty spread across the world.
Many people who live in the mountains or highlands do not have access to the food source such as rice and wheat which are grown in the deltas. This is because transport limits them from reaching for agricultural products. For instance, ethnic minorities have to travel up to 50km across rivers and mountain paths to purchase food from the nearest supplier. Most of them have to gather wild food source which is extremely difficult and thereby, remain hungers.
In addition, even the citizens are lack of finance to buy necessities such as rice. A minimum wage of less than a dollar per day in a growing economic environment causes many people to fall under unemployment category who could not afford food for themselves. As a result, many of those are still hungers regardless of the advancement in agriculture production.
In order to solve this issue, government should be responsible for improving transportations and provide subsides to those who are in-need. Concerning the development of transport facilities, new roads and walking paths ought to be construct and connect where they live with supply spots. This will make the journey from homes to reach for local agricultural suppliers less complex and therefore, encourage more travels to the selling points. Subsequently, they are protected from hungry and inadequate food supply.
Moreover, alleviate them out of poverty can be solved by the establishment of subsidies. A reduction in price of agricultural goods such as rice and bread will make it more affordable for the poverties within the urban areas. Hence, a huge number of workers who received wages under the minimum level are encourage to purchase food at a cheaper price without a reduction in quantity supply. This decision can improve the living standard of many unemployed people and hence, reduces the starving rate in the country.
