The given figure illustrates how many kilometers passengers travelled by various modes of transport in the UK between 1990 and 2000.
Overall, throughout the years the passenger kilometers of all means except bicycle and bike saw an increase over a decade. Moreover, the average number of kilometers tripped by bus and rail was always dramatically higher than the others.
In 1990, the number of kilometers travelled by bus was around 40 billions. Ten years later, this figure rose slightly to 45 billions. The years 2000 witnessed a growth to nearly 45 billions, which is similar to the figure of bus in the same year.
The passenger kilometers travelled by air was not over 5 billions in 1990. By 2000, this number climbed moderately to around 10 billions. On the other hand, the number of kilometers travelled by bicycle began at around 8 billions in 1990, then declined mildly a half in a next decade. By 1990, the figure of bike was at fairly 10 billions, after which it decreased to nearly 8 billions.
