Fresh water is a limited resource in some parts of the world. Today, increasing demand had made it a global problem. What are the causes of this growing demand? What can government and individuals do to respond to the problem?  

Fresh water is a scarce natural resource in several regions all over the world. Due to the rapid population growth, the water shortage has become a global issue in today’s society. To tackle this problem, apart from the individuals’ cooperation in controlling household water use, the government should impose stricter regulations to protect water sources. 

Water deprivation becoming a pressing concern that has been attributed to the tremendous development of the population. The increasing global population leads to higher demand for freshwater which is not solely vital for our bodies but also for 3 primary sectors regarding agriculture, industrialization, and household. To give a clear example, the number of Americans using cars has grown steadily throughout the years and this nation has witnessed an unprecedented demand for private cars. This proliferation of the automotive sector has required a vast amount of salt-free water has been consumed in the U.S. 

As for the remedy to this intense problem, stricter regulations and policies should be mandated to preserve natural fresh water. The government could take over factories and manufacturers implementing their activities which pose a risk of water pollution. In addition, investment in water treatment systems and infrastructures should be encouraged to cultivate the consumed water quality. Additionally, individuals also hold great importance to deal with water scarcity. Each family should restrict the daily amount of household water usage that presents a positive impact on others within their neighborhoods. They also can refrain from performing activities to pollute freshwater storage.

In conclusion, the world has seen an increasing demand for freshwater due to the significant population growth and the authorities and individuals play a vital role in preserving natural freshwater resources as well as properly consuming the freshwater.
