For instance, donating to a disaster relief fund or even offering a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on. These acts are motivated by a desire for a better. Helping others releases stress, boosting mood and countering cortisol which drives people to help each other enthusiastically.

Based on reciprocity, helping others strengthens social bonds and creates a supportive community. For example, assisting with tasks like fixing a flat tire or moving belongings into a new apartment can reinforce relationships and build a sense of community.

After all, there are various reasons why individuals assist each other, including building social bonds, feeling empathy, creating reciprocity, and expressing altruism, which boils down to a desire for human connection and creating a better, more compassionate, and supportive society.
