Although there is a lot of translation software available, learning a language could still be advantageous. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Despite a wide range of translation applications, some people believe learning a language can still be beneficial. Personally, I am of the opinion that obtaining lingual knowledge is more significant in terms of career prospects and cultural experience.

On the one hand, translation software can bring certain benefits with regard to speed because they can translate texts much faster than human. In fact, some Vietnamese students in universities use these software for English reference translation to save time when writing research papers. Consequently, they can soon finish their assignment before the deadline. Besides, translation applications are capable of interpreting multiple languages. A prime example of this is Google Translate, as it might instantly recognise and translate up to hundreds of languages, thereby being used basically throughout the world.

On the other hand, I think language acquisition is more advantageous than relying on translation programs. First, it creates higher chances of jobs for individuals proficient in foreign languages. Recently, recruiters tend to prioritize effective language users for job vacancies due to expansion of international cooperation. This leads to many promotion opportunities and considerable achievements in career path. Second, linguistic learning provides people a deeper insight into foreign cultures. Apart from communication, they can truly understand local customs and traditions by reading original literary works or watching documentaries. As a result, mutual misunderstandings and cultural shock are more likely to be avoided, allowing individuals to better adapt to a new environment.

In conclusion, although translation software can offer faster translation and various language options, mastering languages still holds an irreplaceable role in building a great career and cultural awareness.
