Last summer, I was at the airport’s international terminal, waiting for my flight. When I was walking around, I saw a group of people. They were standing in a circle around a girl with two huge suitcases. Some of them in the circle were even holding posters with the girl’s photos on them and a few gift boxes. They looked so excited that I had to sit down and watch them. 

I guessed they were a group of friends. It seemed like they were saying goodbye to a girl going abroad. Then, I realized it was probably her birthday as the friend group started singing a birthday song to her. After that, the girl received a nón lá from her friend. By the way, nón lá is a Vietnamese traditional hat. The friend group felt so warm and friendly. They were talking and laughing with each other. Even other people at the airport, including me, were looking at them and smiling.

Last summer, I was at the airport waiting for my flight in the international terminal. While I was sitting there, I noticed a group of people nearby. They were standing in a circle around a girl. It seemed like she was going abroad. I just saw these people for the first time but I felt curious about them right away. So, I decided to watch them to see what they were doing. 

From what I saw, I guessed they were a group of close friends. Well, probably, they were saying goodbye to the girl standing in the middle. Then, the whole group started to sing a birthday song to her. Later, one of them even gave her a nón lá – a Vietnamese traditional item. I could see her friends were trying to remind the girl of her home country while being abroad. And this really touched me. Even though I was just a total stranger to them, I could feel that her friends really cared about the girl. The group of friends was so happy that even other people at the airport, including me, were smiling with them.

In the end, the girl looked happy and a bit emotional. I think everyone there was smiling because of their close friendship. Also, the special gift - nón lá, really showed how considerate her friends were, since this gift would remind the girl of her beloved home country. It was a simple but truly beautiful experience that I’ll always remember. 

Looking back, I think everyone was smiling because the moment was full of friendship. Also, it was because of the special gift - nón lá. It showed how considerate the friend group was towards the girl and how much they love our home country - Vietnam. And most importantly, I learnt that simple actions can mean a lot to a person. Since then, I’ve always tried to appreciate my friends and give them emotional support when necessary.

I'd like to talk about a time that I saw everyone was smiling. Well, last summer, when I was at the airport’s international terminal waiting for my flight, I came across a memorable moment. As I was checking the departure board, I saw a group of people gathering nearby. They were happily laughing and cheering around a girl standing in the middle. That really caught my attention so I walked over to see what was going on.

From what I observed, the girl was going abroad and her friends were there to see her off. It was so nice of them to come all the way to the airport to lift their friend’s spirit. And a few minutes later, all of a sudden, the whole group started to sing a birthday song to the girl. So, probably, it was also her birthday. Then, one of them stepped forward and handed the girl a nón lá - a traditional Vietnamese hat. She was actually surprised and even cried with happy tears. I guess the gift was meant to ease her homesickness while she was abroad. Their friendship was so heartwarming that I felt like everyone at the airport was looking at them and smiling. That moment, I also caught myself smiling too.

Something about their energy piqued my curiosity. So, I started to watch them to find out what was happening.

I guessed they were a close-knit group of friends. And it seemed like the girl was going abroad and her friends were seeing her off. You know, coming all the way there to cheer their friend up just showed how important they were to each other. Then, surprisingly, the whole group sang a birthday to the girl. So, I knew it was also her birthday. I was truly touched by their genuine friendship. Later, one of them stepped out and gave the girl a nón lá - a Vietnamese traditional item. She was taken aback and even bursted into tears of happiness. Well, they probably wanted to give her something related to Vietnam, so she could wear it and feel proud of her home country. Though I was just a complete stranger, I could really sense the strong bond between them. I looked around and saw even passers-by  were smiling as they watched.

In the end, the girl thanked her friends and hugged them emotionally before heading to the boarding gate. I think people were smiling because of the group’s genuine friendship. You know, her friends were trying their best to perk her up before going abroad. It just showed how much they cared for her. Also, I guess, it was the special gift - nón lá that got everyone smiling, as it somehow aroused a bond between compatriots. Even though it was just a simple moment, it literally made a big impression on me.

Looking back, I believe everyone there was smiling because the moment was full of sincere friendship. It reminded me that genuine friendship and encouragement can make a huge difference. It can truly cheer someone up and guide them to overcome hardships. On top of that, I learnt to find peace in small but meaningful moments in my daily life. And most importantly, since then, I’ve always appreciated my relationships more by giving my beloved ones as much emotional support as possible.
