Bài mẫu

An object that I find particularly beautiful is a bowl that was given to me by a friend. While I know bowls aren’t the most exciting things in the world, this particular bowl is beautiful because of the story behind it.

During the early years of my time at high school I got the opportunity to interact with a few exchange students. Over this time I made a good friend from Ecuador. We became very close friends during her time in my country, but eventually had to return home. This was very sad for both of us. However, after high school had finished, we found out that she was accepted to a university in my country! When she came back, she brought back a lot of gifts for us all, and one gift in particular was a bowl that was handmade by her grandmother, just for me. It has a hand painted image of a girl on it, looking off into the distance.

It is beautiful and probably my most cherished gift.

  • handmade (a)  /ˌhændˈmeɪd/: được làm thủ công

IELTS Speaking Part 3 Sample

Do you think there are more beautiful things now than in the past? Why?

This is a very hard question because I both want to be affirmative as well as negative. In my opinion, we have lost a lot of beauty in the natural world over the last decades, but I think that more beauty in other aspects has been created. We just need to find a way that creating new beauty isn’t done in a way that poses a threat to old beauty.

  • affirmative (a)  /əˈfɝː.mə.t̬ɪv/: tích cực

She asked the question expecting an affirmative response.

  •  pose a threat / pəʊz ə θret /: đe dọa tới

Did they pose a threat to his place?

What beautiful scenery spots are there in your country?

Immediately I knew where to talk about, and while there are others, this one is the most important one, in my opinion. Ha Long Bay is a place in north eastern Vietnam, located in Quang Ninh province. It is an area of the sea in which there are hundreds of karst mountains sticking out of the water. It is breathtaking. Tourists can take boats to float through the mountains in the bay overnight, it is very impressive.

  • karst (n)  /kɑːrst/: núi bị phong hóa

Some of the rocky karsts contain sea caves and hidden lagoons.

  • Breathtaking (a) /ˈbreθˌteɪ.kɪŋ/: tráng lệ, hấp dẫn

The view from the top of the mountain is breathtaking.

Where do you think people usually come into contact with beautiful things?

I think that the easiest answer would just be that people are most likely to come into contact with beauty when doing new things. While we can love and appreciate things we see around us all the time, it seems to me that you would be much more likely to encounter something that you would deem beautiful if it is something you’re not already used to.

  • encounter (v)  /ɪnˈkaʊn.t̬ɚ/: gặp phải

On their way home they encountered a woman selling flowers.

  • deem (v)  /diːm/: cho là

The area has now been deemed safe.

Why do you think people create beautiful things?

People create beautiful things because beautiful things are, by definition, things that humans tend to enjoy. If I remember correctly, serotonin is the chemical released when humans experience happiness. Happiness is an emotion that can be evoked by witnessing beauty. For the most part, humans tend to enjoy this happiness. Once humans discovered that we can do things to increase our happiness, we were likely to try and imitate and improve upon it.

  • Evoke (v)  /ɪˈvoʊk/: làm trỗi dậy

That smell always evokes memories of my old school.

  • imitate (v)  /ˈɪm.ə.teɪt/: bắt chước

Some of the youngerpopbandstry to imitate theirmusicalheroes from the past.
