How well do you know your neighbors?

Well I’ve just moved into a new area and I would say that my neighbors are generally hospitable and kind. We really get along well and enjoy each other's company.

(Tôi vừa chuyển đến khu vực này thôi và có thể nói rằng hàng xóm của tôi rất thân thiện và tốt bụng. Chúng tôi nhanh chóng kết bạn và làm thân với nhau.)

Do you like your neighbors?

There are many things that I like about my neighborhood. Because I live in an apartment in the center of the city, there are a lot of amenities nearby, such as a park, swimming pools, and convenient stores. On the weekend, I often hit the gym, which is on the ground floor of my building too.

(Có rất nhiều thứ mà tôi thích về khu hàng xóm của mình. Vì tôi sống ở căn hộ chung cư trong trung tâm thành phố nên có rất nhiều tiện ích xung quanh. Các tiện ích có thể kể đến là công viên, hồ bơi, cửa hàng tiện lợi. Vào cuối tuần tôi thường đi tập thể dục dưới sảnh của chung cư.)

How could your neighborhood be improved?

To be honest, my neighborhood is not a very good place for elderly people like my grandparents. The residents often sing karaoke at night, and there are plenty of vehicles crossing the street, so it can be a little dangerous. From my perspective, everyone should have self-awareness to enhance the quality of life in the community.

(Thực sự mà nói thì nơi tôi sống không phải là một nơi tốt cho những người lớn tuổi như ông bà tôi. Cư dân thường hát karaoke và có rất nhiều xe cộ qua lại trên đường nên hơi nguy hiểm một chút. Theo góc nhìn của tôi thì đó là vấn đề ý thức cá nhân của mỗi người để cải thiện đời sống cộng đồng tốt hơn thôi.)

Would you move to a different neighborhood if you could?

Yes definitely, if I had a chance to move to another area, I would choose to live somewhere far from the city because the property can be cheaper.

(Vâng chắc chắn rồi, nếu có cơ hội tôi sẽ chuyển sang nơi khác. Tôi sẽ chọn một nơi xa thành phố một chút vì giá cả sẽ rẻ hơn.)

Where is your neighborhood?

Ở đây, người học cần đưa ra thông tin về vị trí, khu vực gần nơi mình sinh sống. Ví dụ:

My neighborhood was in the north of Vietnam, which is Bac Giang Province.

(Khu tôi sinh sống ở phía Bắc của Việt Nam, cụ thể là tỉnh Bắc Giang.)

I grew up in a neighborhood on the south side of Vietnam.

(Tôi lớn lên ở miền Nam Việt Nam.)

The neighborhood I grew up in is right on the edge of the central region.

(Khu vực tôi lớn lên nằm ngay rìa của miền Trung Việt Nam.)

My neighborhood is a place called Vĩnh Hy.

(Khu tôi ở tên là Vĩnh Hy.)

What kind of people lived there?

Ở câu hỏi gợi ý này, thường người học nên miêu tả về những người hàng xóm mà mình quen biết. Đó có thể là tính cách, đặc điểm chung, ấn tượng của người nói về họ.

Ví dụ:

In my neighborhood, most of the residents are factory workers because we live in an industrial zone.

(Ở khu tôi sống thì hầu hết người dân làm công nhân trong các nhà máy vì tôi sống ở khu công nghiệp.)

It seemed like almost everyone in my neighborhood had a laid-back lifestyle.

(Dường như hàng xóm khu tôi sống có một lối sống rất thư thả.)

Growing up, I realized that they were very hospitable, cooperative and kind with each other.

(Lớn lên thì tôi thấy họ là những người rất hiếu khách, tốt bụng và giúp đỡ lẫn nhau.)

What is it like to live in this neighborhood?

Đây là một gợi ý khá chung chung, vì vậy thí sinh có thể miêu tả, kể bất cứ điều gì liên quan đến khu vực mình sống. Ví dụ như tả cảnh, tả thêm về con người, về thời tiết hoặc thí sinh có thể kể một kỉ niệm đáng nhớ mà mình có. Ví dụ:

My neighborhood is surrounded by kids who are the same age as me. We do a lot of activities together. Sometimes all the children in the area gather around and play board games. Those are unforgettable memories for me.

(Khu xóm tôi toàn là trẻ con bằng lứa tuổi với tôi. Chúng tôi đã làm rất nhiều trò cùng nhau. Thỉnh thoảng tất cả trẻ em trong xóm tụ tập lại và chơi các trò chơi tập thể. Đó là những kỷ niệm khó quên đối với tôi.)

Bài mẫu Describe your neighborhood IELTS Speaking part 2

Well, honestly, I did not grow up in a metropolis like Ho Chi Minh City. The place where I spent most of my childhood is a small village near Bien Hoa City. Speaking of the local population, I would say that I am lucky to have the most hospitable, cooperative, and supportive neighbors and friends around me. They were always there to help my family when we were in need.

We were all involved in lots of joint activities. For instance, whenever some neighbors of my family were building a house, we gave them a hand by lending them tools. So we had a very close-knit relationship. I did enjoy living in my neighborhood because I had a lot of great friends with whom I played football, basketball, and board games.

I recall that we had some disagreements, but that everything was fine soon after. Although we were no longer living in the same area, we kept in touch via social media. I am now living in Ho Chi Minh City to make a living, but I might return to my neighborhood to visit my parents and my childhood friends.
