Topic: It is now possible for scientists and tourists to travel to remote natural environments, such as the South Pole. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?
Essay:
It is true that technology development allows people to explore every corner of the world. Despite some obvious advantages of this trend, I would argue that these are outweighed by the disadvantages.
On one hand, there are two major benefits when having a tour of far-flung natural locations. To begin with, it is easier for experts to study unique species which inhabit other places. Because in the past, before the invention of airplanes, people had to endure long and arduous journeys. Now, modern vehicles bring people to the right destination in a safer and shorter time. Therefore, there are more scientists have the chance to treat their exploration enthusiasm. Furthermore, going to the remote natural areas will improve local people's living standards. It is clear that when travelers take a trip, they demand homestay or enjoy local food. Thus, local people will earn money from renting houses and supplying local dishes. As a result, this phenomenon improves natives' income and creates new job opportunities.
On the other hand, I believe that the drawbacks are more significant than such advantages. One reason for this view is that tourism’s development can destroy the ecosystem balance. Building facilities will lead to deforestation and changing the environment. Consequently, animals will lose their natural home and even lead to extinction. Another reason is that some local traditional culture will disappear. Due to the influence of external visitors, some ethnic groups around the world have abandoned their traditional clothing. This situation will result in fading cultural identity.
