People hold divergent views about the important of art and music lessons at school. While many people think that it seems to be useless for learning them, I advocate that these artistic lessons also play a vital role for the development of children.
On the one hand, there are several considerable reasons why many people believe that learning art and music are a waste of time. To begin with, it is true that not all students are gifted in part and music so that they have no interest in these classes. In other words, while art and music are compulsory at school, many students tend to see them as their free-time and lack of concentration. As a result, they may not be exposed to benefit from learning them as well as doing prepare children for future career. In addition, in a knowledge-based economy, artistic skills usually are overlooked more than academic subjects like language, math and science, ... For instance, many parents want their children being good at science because of it is more useful leading to the study of medicine and disease. Furthermore, many people agree that being articulate and capable of mathematical calculations are more important than to be able to draw or sing.
On the other hand, it is undeniable that art and music are lessons which are worth-learning at school. Firstly, art and music offer a creative outlet without the strain of brain. While traditional subjects such as math, science,... emphasis logical thinking regarding to available models, children have the chance to express their unique imagination through new pictures or songs. Therefore, they also develop a broad range of skills. Secondly, art and music are an essential part of any civilization. Besides the development of technology, the ancient pictures or traditional music can enrich the human's knowledge about previous eras in the world. Hence, it is clear that children can learn about history through art without boring as traditional learning methods.
In conclusion, although certain disadvantages are on the horizon, I suppose that art and music are crucial skills for children at school.
