Task 1:The table and charts below give information on the police budget for 2017 and 2018 in one area of Britain. The table shows where the money came from and the charts show how it was distributed

The table illustrates the sources of police budget while the pie charts demonstrate how it would be allocated between different alternatives during 2017 and 2018.

Overall, the national government contributed to the majority of cash available in both years. However, the amount of payment given to the polices and staffs have decreased over time.

With regard to the table, the domestic government spent as much as 175.5 million pounds in 2017 for security, and the number changed slightly, around 2.3 millions by 2018. Similarly, money came from other sources experienced a rise from 38 to 38.5 million pounds. The most significant increase in investment was local taxes with approximately 10 million pounds, thereby, contributed to an increase in the overall budget from 304.7 to 318.6 million.

Concerning the pie charts, funds received for constructions and transportations remain unchanged (at 17%) as opposed to that of technology, which has increased from 8% to 14% over a year. This explained the 6% decline in salaries paid to officers and their staffs.

Task 2: Some children spend hours every day on their smartphones. Why is this the case? Do you think this is a positive or a negative development?

In the modern day and time, some children are on their cellphones for a considerable amount of time. This is because smartphones allow them to access to a wide range of events happening around the world and given them a sense of relax. I believe that the limitations of eye-on-screen outweigh the benefits if there is a lack of time management.

First of all, considering the reasons behind this phenomenon, cellphones help the children reaching for information without travelling. In other words, the youngsters would be able to acquire any up-to-date knowledge which satisfy their curiosity. For instance, Vietnamese teenager would be able to understand how lives are going on in different continents without stepping outside their houses.

In addition, the purposes of using phones usually accompany with entertainment. During this era, the climb in stress level making people to seek for more entertaining activities that can be fulfill by social medias and the internet. Thereby, it explained why many children frequently have phones on their hands.

Nevertheless, spending hours everyday on phones have negative impacts on the body, especially children at growth stage. Blue lights from electronic devices are harmful for the eyes. The longer amount of time spent on electric gadgets, the worse one's eyesight could be. This can be evidenced by the dramatic rise in number of people wearing glasses during the recent years.

Moreover, donating the majority of daytime online means reducing physical exercises. Having a regular physical practice routine would enhance the strength of bones and improve teenager's health. Though, if kids decided to spend their time on smartphones for hours, they wouldn't have much time left for other daily activities.

In conclusion, I don't think that children should be on smartphones for a long time as it will worsen their eyesight and weaken their physical health. Still, it would be beneficial if use under strict time-control.
