In some countries, there has been an increase in the number of parents who educate their children themselves at home instead of sending them to school. Do you think the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

Nowadays, many parents in some country choose to teach their children at home instead of send them to school. This trend become more popular because parents think they can give better education. In my opinion, the disadvantages is bigger than advantages.

One advantage of homeschooling is children can learn in a safe environment. For example, at home, they not meet bad friends or violence in school. Also, parents can decide what subject and how fast children study. This can help some children who learn slow or have special need. Another advantage is family can be more close because spend more time together.

However, I believe there are more negative points. First, children study at home will not have chance to communicate with other kids. This make them shy and difficult when they go to university or work. Second, most parents are not professional teacher, so they cannot give enough knowledge like school teacher. For instance, science or history need special skill to teach, which parents maybe don’t have. Finally, homeschooling can be stressful for parents because they need spend a lot of time and energy, so it is not good for family balance.

In conclusion, even though homeschooling have some benefit such as safety and personal study plan, the disadvantage like lack of social skill and limited knowledge is more serious. Therefore, I think it is better for children to go to school.
